If you're using Photoshop to "fool the eye," here are two tips for making objects look dramatically larger than they really are. First, to convey a sense of size, the eye needs a point of reference. So, if you want to create some type that looks 50 feet tall, place a silhouette of a person (just the person, no background) beside the type, and use Free Transform to shrink him to less than 30% of the height of the type. The second tip is to rasterize your type, then use Free Transform to add a perspective effect to make your type appear as though it's so tall that you (the person viewing the image) are looking up at it (called foreshortening). To add perspective using Free Transform, first press Command-T (PC: Control-T) to bring up Free Transform. Then, Control-click (PC: Right-click) within the bounding box and a pop-up menu of transformations will appear. Choose Perspective from this list, then grab the upper right-hand corner point and drag inward to create the perspective. When it looks about right to you, press Return (PC: Enter) to lock in your transformation. |
