Difficulty Level 1
When Mac OS X first arrived on the scene, many people were optimistic about the operating system. Two features that seemed ripe for change from previous versions of the OS were the standard Open and Save dialog boxes. Unfortunately, some were disappointed in what they saw in Mac OS 10.0, 10.1, and 10.2. With Panther (OS X 10.3), Apple has finally redeemed itself by completely revamping the Open and Save dialog boxes.
Resembling the new Finder windows in Panther, the Open and Save dialog boxes offer significant improvements over previous versions. Gone is the extralong Favorites menu of earlier Mac OS X versions. Moreover, the dialog boxes support List and Column views as well as one-click access to your most often used places via the embedded Places sidebar.
