Implementing an enterprise data warehouse is not a simple task. The key reason is that the reporting and data analysis requirements for a data warehouse never end. That's why the data warehousing industry calls data warehousing a process and not a product. The data warehouse has to be in constant evolution as well as a stable environment to fulfill end-user needs. For this reason, the initial introduction of a data warehouse in an organization must be very well planned and executed. The purpose of this chapter is to provide readers (data warehouse architects and designers, business analysts, project managers, and technical infrastructure capacity planners) with some guidelines and steps to take before, during, and after launching an SAP BW project.
