Chapter 6

A1:

The system database directory contains all the databases you can connect from a DB2 client machine.

A2:

To view the content of the database directory on the H: drive, you use the command list db directory on H:.

A3:

An entry type of indirect means that this entry corresponds to a local database.

A4:

To determine which port is being used, look for the string db2_cDB2 in the services file.

A5:

APPC or TCPIP can be used as the communication protocol to connect from a DB2 Connect gateway to a DB2 for z/OS server.

A6:

DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition can be installed once on a gateway machine to allow all 1,000 clients to connect to the DB2 for iSeries server, while DB2 Connect Personal Edition is licensed only to be installed at the DB2 client machine.

A7:

To remove an entry from the DCS directory, you can use the command uncatalog dcs db dbname.

A8:

To remove an entry from the node directory, you can use the command uncatalog node nodename.

A9:

To remove an entry from the system database directory, you can use the command uncatalog db dbname.

A10:

When you have a huge network with many hubs, the "Search the network" method will take a long time, and it may not find the database you want because this method will only search your local network.

A11:

D. This command puts an entry into the node directory that points to the remote server and port that the instance will use for inbound connections.

A12:

C. DB2 ESE has built-in DB2 Connect functionality, so it can use the DCS directory along with the DB2 Connect products. Therefore, DB2 Personal Edition is the one that cannot use the DCS directory.

A13:

B. You should use the value specified in the SVCENAME parameter in the command as shown in B.

A14:

C. When a database is created, an entry of type indirect is inserted into the system database directory.

A15:

A and B are required. A specifies the port number used by the instance. B turns on the TCP/IP listener.

A16:

D. Unknown discovery is not a valid method. Search the network can be done using known discovery and search discovery.

A17:

A. At the DAS level at the server machine, you can prevent Discover for the DB2 server.

A18:

D. To disable a certain database to be discovered, you can disable the DISCOVER_DB database configuration parameter.

A19:

C. When a database is dropped, its entry is removed from the system and local database directory.

A20:

B. DISCOVER=disable is used to prevent a client machine from using the discovery method. In this case, the DB2 server is working as a DB2 client for other DB2 servers.
