Appendix B. IBM Certified Database Administrator for DB2 UDB Version 8 for z/OS

An IBM Certified Database Administrator (DBA) for the DB2 UDB version 8 product for the z/OS operating system is an individual with significant experience as a DBA and extensive knowledge of the DB2 Universal Database, including the features and functionality related to version 8. This person is capable of performing the intermediate to advanced tasks related to database design and implementation, operation and recovery, security and auditing, performance, and installation and migration specific to the z/OS operating system.

In order to attain the IBM Certified Database Administrator DB2 Universal Database V8 for z/OS certification, candidates must pass two tests:

  1. Test 700, IBM DB2 UDB Version 8 Family Fundamentals

  2. Test 702, IBM DB2 UDB Version 8 for z/OS Database Administration

It is recommended that this individual have at least two years of experience as a database administrator on DB2 UDB version 8 for z/OS. Some knowledge and experience in both the application DBA and system programming DBA areas will be necessary, as well as knowledge of major programming languages, such as COBOL, Java, and C++. The ability to work independently and effectively in complex environments will also be necessary.

The DB2 UDB V8 Family Fundamentals 700 exam covers the DB2 family. The exam has 54 questions and requires a 61 percent pass rate. The DB2 UDB V8 for z/OS Database Administration 702 exam has approximately 61 questions and requires a pass rate of 55 percent.
