OpenVMS may be configured to allow logins for a particular user only from certain sources or during certain times. For example, you may be allowed to log in from any location during normal business hours, but only from directly connected terminals during night or weekend hours. Proper use of this feature can further protect a system from attacks from outside, even if a password is stolen. Your system manager can tell you if your account has any access restrictions.
If your attempt to log in is prevented by such an access restriction, OpenVMS will display an appropriate message, such as "You are not allowed to log in at this time" or "You are not allowed to log in from this source."
