Using the Accompanying CD

CD Content

The CD that accompanies this book contains the sample files and templates that are used in the exercises in the Your Turn and Putting It Together sections. The CD also contains some extra data analysis samples that you can use when you are finished reading this book. (For details about the CD extras, see Appendix B, “Additional Tools and Resources.”) The CD also includes a fully searchable electronic version of this book.

To install the sample files and other content on the CD, follow these steps:

  1. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive. The CD’s autorun feature should display a welcome page from which you can install the sample files, data analysis extras, and the electronic book.

If the CD does not start automatically, open the folder for your CD-ROM drive and double-click StartCD.exe.

  2. Click the link for the content you want to install to run the setup program.

By default, the sample files will be copied to C:\Microsoft Press\Excel Data Analysis\Sample Files. The setup program will create a folder for each of the book’s chapters that use sample files; for example, Chap02, Chap03, and so on. The setup program will copy the data analysis extras to C:\Microsoft Press\Excel Data Analysis\Extras.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later and the proper HTML Help components are required to view the electronic book. If your computer does not have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later, you can install Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 from the CD-ROM. For more details about the installation of the electronic book, see the readme.txt file included on the CD.

To remove the sample files, extras, or electronic book from your computer, use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
