Another color model used by Paint Shop Pro is grey scale, which is what you use with black-and-white images. The images are not purely black and white, however; they are made up of 256 shades of grey. Any image you create can be in grey scale, and any existing image can be converted to grey scale.
When you create a new image, you're required to specify the number of colors. Instead of the 16 million colors you've been working with so far, for a new grey scale image, you'll specify grey scale as the image type.
If you have an existing color image, whether a photograph or drawing, you can easily convert it to grey scale.
